Engeln says Bungie invested heavily in brand new tech to make Lost Sectors a reality. The new video also provided a bit more information on Lost Sectors, the mini-dungeons scattered across all the patrol zone’s in Destiny 2. Engeln says some World Quests will be multi-objective chains and will frequently be used to tell more complicated stories, like how Failsafe (a human AI) wound up alone on the surface of Nessus. World Quests will be used to tell longer, more intricate tales. They won’t be very long or particularly tough. According to Engeln, Adventures will be one-off stories that provide background information about the people we’ll meet and places we’ll visit in the upcoming Destiny sequel.

Both will be used to flesh out the story in Destiny 2, but the scope of the two activity classes couldn’t be more different. The two biggest additions to the patrol zones are Adventures and World Quests.

But we’d like to think Bungie has a few surprises in store for us, too. It seems like most of them will still involve rallying Guardians around a single point or item and asking them to defend that spot for a predetermined amount of time. The new patrol zones will feature a mix of new and reimagined public events, some of which may be familiar to longtime Destiny fans. This week’s clip, an eight-minute video featuring commentary from Bungie Rituals and Programming Lead Rob Engeln, takes us back to Nessus for a rundown of everything there is to do between missions when Destiny 2 emerges in September.

But it does sound like it’s going to take much longer for fans to run out of things to do after Destiny 2 heads to PC and consoles this fall.Īll of the new information comes courtesy of the latest Destiny 2 gameplay upload from IGN and Bungie. Structurally, the content hasn’t undergone a radical shift. Keep in mind that Bungie could change the frequency of these events and not all times have been confirmed yet.New details on the patrol zone changes we’ll see in Destiny 2 are out this week, including more information on the quests and other activities we’ll encounter on each planet. Here is the approximate schedule as captured by Destinypedia, which the Destiny Public Events website uses. It will allow you to move from one section of the map to another to catch the event and earn those all-important Vanguard marks. That said, it does help knowing approximately when these events are happening while you are doing a Patrol mission. Some events happen regularly, some less regularly, and some happen rarely. It's important to note that there's no guarantee that a public event will actually kick off at the time noted. For example, the Devil Walker public event in Old Russia regularly happens in The Divide section of the map at a 15 minutes and 45 minutes past every hour. Redditor lax20attack put together a Destiny Public Events website to help keep track of when and where public events will occur.Įach public event starts at a regularly scheduled times each hour. Since Vanguard Marks are coveted for the ability to level up a player's Vanguard Rankings, being able to efficiently hunt down and complete public events is important. However, Vanguard Marks are always earned for each ranking 4 for Gold, 3 for Silver, and 2 for Bronze. Rewards typically include an Asendent Shard, Ascendant Enery, or a Strange Coin along with a package the first time a Gold rating is earned for an event. Players will earn Gold, Silver, or Broze tier rewards based on their performance during the event. These are dynamic events that must be completed within a certain time period. Public events occur during patrols or strike mission in Destiny. A group of Redditors have come up with a way for PlayStation and Xbox players to track when public events in the game are about to launch in the different zones for each of the four maps.
